Who won, and how

Austin Smotherman wins again — in a playoff, on a Monday, in 40 mph wind

Bermuda’s final round got blown off the island, so Smotherman and Seamus Power settled it by playing the same par-3 16th three times. Smotherman two-putted for par to make it back-to-back wins after Utah. I’ve also played the same hole three times in a row. It was called “reloading.”

Miyu Yamashita defends her Maybank Championship title

Yamashita held off China’s Yan Liu in Kuala Lumpur to win the same event two years running, finishing 22 under. Defending a title is hard. I can’t even defend a two-shot lead over my brother-in-law on the back nine.

Yuri Yoshida comes from four back for her first LPGA win

At the BMW Ladies Championship in South Korea, Yoshida came from four shots back on Sunday and won by one over Haeran Ryu and Hye-Jin Choi. Both she and the overnight leader bogeyed the last, which is the most relatable thing I’ve ever seen at a tour event.

Yuto Katsuragawa grinds out a second DP World Tour title in Korea

Katsuragawa started the Genesis Championship 106th in the Race to Dubai, needing a big week to keep his card. He matched the course record on Saturday, then made 16 pars on Sunday and won by two. Sixteen pars in a round. I’d frame that scorecard.

Eugenio Chacarra wins in India — on a fractured toe — and takes the Race to Dubai lead

Chacarra played 25 holes in one day at Delhi Golf Club to win the DP World India Championship by two, his third win of 2026, and jumped Patrick Reed for the top spot in the rankings. He did it after recently breaking a toe. I take a cart if my sock bunches.

New stuff I can’t afford yet

Odyssey unveils the TRTL and TRTL MAX mallet putters

Two new big-forgiveness mallets with Odyssey’s Ai-Star insert and a long “Twin Track” alignment system. Listed at $349.99 (TRTL) and $399.99 (MAX S2S), available Nov 6. Do I need one? My putting says yes. My wallet says I already have six putters in the garage.

Sun Mountain launches the ClubGlider3 travel bag

The legendary roll-it-through-the-airport travel bag gets a third version: tougher materials, a TSA-approved lock and a dedicated AirTag pocket. With the PGA Show in Orlando coming in January, this one is relevant to my interests — and to my driver’s survival.

PXG’s new Secret Weapon mini driver gets a thinner face

A 300cc, 13-degree mini driver pitched as driver distance with fairway-wood control, now with a thinner face and four adjustable sole weights. That’s PXG’s claim, not my test. As a guy who just made a whole film about 7-woods vs 4-irons, I am absolutely the target audience for “one more weird club.”

Rapsodo’s MLM2X Pro brings putting and 4K courses to a $900 launch monitor

Heads up: this one is a sponsored piece. The new $899.99 MLM2X Pro adds simulated putting, a top-mounted status screen and a first-ever PC app, with 4K courses behind a paid membership. As someone who wrote a whole article on what a home sim really costs, I’m noting those yearly memberships.

SkyCaddie SuperTags want to tell you why you missed that putt

A small tag on your putter grip that pairs with your phone and breaks down your stroke, with a 3D replay of every putt. I already know why I missed it. I just don’t need it in 3D.

Maverick Golf & Ranch Club’s Fazio course opens in southwest Fort Worth

Discovery Land’s private Maverick club near U.S. 377 is opening its 18-hole Tom Fazio championship course Nov. 6, the centerpiece of a high-end home community. It’s private, so it won’t be landing on my DFW map of places I can actually play. But a guy can dream from the road.

A $50 million private Texas course with zero members hosted a college event

Halbert National in Granbury, about 40 miles from Fort Worth, is a Tom Fazio design built for one family. It hosted the first Abilene Christian Intercollegiate, with SMU, Baylor, Houston and Texas A&M in the field. A course where nobody can watch you play? That’s the most relatable billionaire purchase I’ve ever heard of.
